How to Witness
Jesus is the way, and the truth, and the life, and since no one comes to the Father but through Him, we as Christians MUST fulfill the Great Commission. There are many ways to do this, with the ABC's, The Roman Road, and the FAITH acronym being only a few tools to help. These are listed below for your reference, along with a sample sinner's prayer. Another very important component in witnessing is to be in the Bible on a daily basis. Set aside a quiet time each day to just talk to God, read His Word, and learn what He has to say to you. The most important thing to say? The difference Jesus made in your life. If you're asked a question you don't know the answer to, tell them you don't know! Find out the answer and get back to them. God loves them as much as He does you and me.ABC's
While it doesn't contain the scripture the Roman Road does, the ABC plan of salvation was developed as a simple, easy to remember way to witness, and help outline eternal truths to the non-believer.
A is for ADMIT you are a sinner, that you have need of Christ as your own personal saviour, and that all those who obey the Lord Jesus shall be saved. You cannot save yourself, nor add to or take from the finished work of Christ for you.
B is for BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of the Living God. You can know He is Whom He claimed to be by the prophecies fulfilled in His Life.
C is for CONFESS to the Lord and to yourself that you have certain responsibilities and commitments as a follower of Christ. The more you know of Him the more you will want others to know of Him.
The Roman Road
The Roman Road is God's plan of salvation set forth in Paul's letter to the Roman Church. While not as easy to remember as the ABC's, it says it all and is an effective way to show the truth to a non-Christian.
Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
We are all sinners and need God's grace and forgiveness.
Romans 5:8 - "But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Because of God's love the Father sent the Son to die for us, even
though we don't deserve it.
Romans 6:23 - "But the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
We earn death because of our sin. We can have eternal life only
through Jesus Christ.
Roman 10:9-10-"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
You must make a confession of Christ as Lord and believe in your
heart that He died and was raised again, then you'll be saved!
Romans 10:13 -"For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved."
Just call on Him.
Romans 11:36 - "For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen."
God is all. Make Jesus the Lord of your life today!
FAITH
This acronym also helps some people lay out the plan of salvation to others.
F is for Forgiveness - We cannot have eternal life and Heaven without forgiveness.
A is for Available - Forgiveness is available to all, but it is not automatic.
I is for Impossible - It is impossible for God to allow sin into Heaven because He is Holy and just. We are sinners and do not deserve and cannot earn our way in.
T is for Turn - Turn means to repent. We must turn from sin and the flesh to Christ Jesus alone.
H is for Heaven - Heaven is eternal life. How can we have eternal life in Heaven? Only by having F.A.I.T.H. in our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Sinner's Prayer
There are many ways to say the sinner's prayer, with the only necessities being that you admit you're a sinner, ask for forgiveness, and surrender yourself to the Lord. Below is a sinner's prayer example from www.sbc.net.
"Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and that I do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe you died and rose from the grave to purchase a place in Heaven for me. Jesus come into my life, take control of my life, forgive my sins and save me. I am now placing my trust in you alone for my salvation and I accept your free gift of eternal life."
Witnessing
There is only so much we can put on a web page about witnessing, other than to quote the Great Commission:
"Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation
(Mar 16:15, ASV).
It is strongly suggested you speak to your Pastor or another who can counsel you, and remember that new believers need to be discipled. Get them into a good, Christ-centered church, and help them through the trials that always come to new believers. God bless you.
